The government said on Wednesday that former imprisoned Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will be allowed to join Maryam Nawaz in the funeral of his late wife and PML-N’s determined Kulsoom Nawaz. Father and daughter will be released on parole to attend her last ceremony.
Nawaz and Maryam were released from Adiala Jail and boarded a special plane to be taken to Jati Umra. The members of the Sharif family were allegedly on a special plane to Lahore.
After a long battle with lymphoma, Kulsoom died in London on Tuesday.
Reuters quoted Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry as saying: ” From the family a request have been received , and, parole will be granting Inshallah.”
He said that Nawaz and Maryam on funeral and burial days will be free for 12 hours,which may occur within three to four days after the body flies home from London.
After the accountability court ruled that they had assets that exceeded known income, Nawaz, Maryam had been serving his sentence at Adalla Prison, Rawalpindi.
The body will be taken by the relative to Lahore where funeral will be done at the house of Rindand. The funeral details have not yet been announced.
Talking to the Associate Press, the PML-N spokesperson Maryam Aurangzeb said that her body is being administered to take back the funeral in Pakistan.
Party leader Khawaja Imran Nazir told media in Lahore that Begummay be laid in the family home at Raiwind, but it has been clarified that all decisions can be finalized only after family talks. He said that if the family decided to bury it in Pakistan, then the withdrawal process could take two to three days.
